Management says dome was intentionally deflated to fix the (unintentional!) tear in the panel on the right of photo. Dome is made of 2x layers of 1/30″ woven fibreglass and held up by internal air pressure only, which is supplied by 16 big fans. See http://www.bcplacestadium.com/backgrounder.shtml and http://www.bcplacestadium.com/newsreleases/jan052007.html.

here is the story from global BC
http://www.canada.com/globaltv/bc/story.html?id=3fa37844-3ec1-4fc3-8a36-cc7450e0bd24&k=30807
there are also videos of BC place being inflated back in the 80s and a cell phone of the tear in the roof.
btw this is nothing Stanley Park got hit again and trees died
at least you can quickly fix the BC place roof but the park can’t replace old trees. It just won’t be the same Stanley Park anymore with those missing 1000 trees.
