Noooo! (plus some random notes)

Argh, yesterday I injured my neck while skiing, FOUR DAYS before I go on the Colorado trip to the Steamboat ski resort with some work buddies. Grrrrr! I can’t move my head at all and I can barely stand sitting at my computer here at work. It BETTER heal before Friday or ELSE. :(

Also, I can’t believe Children of Men didn’t win any Oscars last night. What a slap in the face to a brilliant, brilliant movie.

Oh, I installed XM Satellite Radio in my car yesterday ^_^… it sounds sweet! The companies are merging (Sirius and XM) so hopefully they’ll be around for a while.

Also, in other news, how many of you use the Movie Maker tool in CoH? Do you know how to use it? What would help?

I use it to play some Ambiente-NIS (nis which are playable in running game (like higgins-boats in campaign-mission1)).

For me it’s very hard to edit a bunch of timeframes (lets say i want to shift 5 objects (eg:soldiers) from key-frame on position 100 sek to keyframe on position 500 sek.

I know that the World Builder contains the NIS tool, and how to launch the World Builder, but I have yet to have the desire to use it.

    Give us a cooler icon.

Take care of your neck Buggo! Also thanks for Children of Men, i missed this movie and it looks great!

    Hey,

I’ve been using the NIS tool quite a lot, but it really does lack a comprehensive How-To and references. For instance, for example, I have had to consult eight different topics on three different forums to find out how to play one in-game.

Other than that, I’ve got a lot of love for the NIS tool. It’s very customizable, got lots and lots of cool functions and effects and I love it that you don’t seem to have left anything out. However, there are way too many ‘dead links’ - cool commands that don’t seem to do anything.

It takes a lot of time to experiment forth workable solution, and they’re often not ideal because you can’t figure out which inane combination of seemingly arbitrary commands makes the model do what you want.

For instance, how do you get any Allied troop to carry - say -a thompson? The only commands that appear to work are [event] _setup_smg and [event]_enable_recoillessrifle. (The Setup_Smg command, for some reason, gives you a Garand and sets the Mood to Tense. You can see why that’s indesirable.)

It’s just really not very intuitive *cry*

    Love,
    Eb.

(Yeah, sorry about whining. Go Relic!)

goldo_O… yeah Children of Men is pretty incredible. Clive Owen is an amazing actor, and the cinematography is stunning in the movie. I can’t believe some of the takes are that long!

Easybreath, yes thanks for the feedback… that is exactly what I am looking for. I’m hoping to put together some more documentation for the Movie Maker.

The cinematography is indeed beautiful in that film, but it didn’t strike me as a brilliant film. As for Owen, he’s always looking like a crybaby. In King Arthur, in Sin City and in this one, he’s got the same face, the same voice, the same expression.

Take care of that neck. Skiing is fun, but being alive and healthy is even more fun :P

    Hello Buggo,

I want to make movies for Company of Heroes, but all I do now is go in replay mode, use FRAPS to capture, and use Premiere Elements 3 to movie edit…Where is this “movie maker” you speak of? I guess I would LOVE to use it!

    Regards,

    John

I really like the Movie Maker myself. It took me a while to learn most of the stuff I know now about it, but I found most of the features easy to learn. Learning how to use the AutoKey feature helped a lot in troop movement!

Overall I would say that it is very powerful and you can make almost anything happen in it. Too bad there is almost NO documentation on it. The wiki will only get you started.

@JohnYoga: Its part of the Worldbulder, look near “Water Placement”.

not sure if this is still alive…I never go in to the maps bunker. I think one of the biggest questions is, how do you record a clip? that question has been up on the wiki since it launched. I’ve gone thru console commands and see all the clip_ and nis_ commands but how do you use them?
    is there further documentation coming?

Is this discussion abou Windows Movie Maker? If so, then it’s bullshit. I can’t same the movie even though I have enough disk space, destination directory exists, all files used exist etc.
