Company of Heroes Patch 1.6 Out Tomorrow

Yep, the patch will be out tomorrow, assuming everything goes smoothly with Quazal and the servers.

Some things to remember:

- Please remember that patch notes are never as good as playing the actual patch. Please reserve your judgement until you play the patch.

- All CoH ranks will be reset down to Level 10 tomorrow. All players will be given the point ratings of Level 10s (690). If you are below Level 10, you will not be affected. Wins and losses stats will not be touched.

- Any modifications made to Company of Heroes may result in the inability to patch successfully. Before applying any modifications (mods), we suggest backing up the affected files and replacing them before applying any patch. Not doing so may result in the need to re-install the game.

Patch notes for 1.6 are listed below:

  6. NihilisticGod Says:

Thanks for the head up :D

  7. VandenPlause Says:

Hopefully allies won’t be able to supply drop spam their way to victory, and dropped AT guns will be another big manpower hit.

I see armor becoming the dominant doctrine, with fast pershings and AWM to save the day, hopefully it will play out better than I can theorycraft though…

  8. UberJumper Says:

Can’t wait! But I am concerned about how this works…

    - Recorded game files no longer saved to disk until after the game

    Other than that, looks good.

  9. F. Says:

A bit dissapointed, but a step in the right direction, I mean, where’s the Pershing CP increase, or AWM reduced spamability, or nebelwerfer and KCH buff

  11. Kromus Says:

    Thanks for keeping us updated

  12. Shiffty Says:

well what can i say is that not what everone has been asking for. looks great good job.

  13. bob Says:

man where’s the decrease in price of mp 44’s to 50 munitions.

  14. Slober Says:

Everything seems perfect now, this is what 1.5 should have been. Thx relic and Buggo. :)

  15. independantrogue Says:

good to see this game still getting fixes wether or not ppl agree with them it shows how much devotion to COH is invested!

Good stuff and i toatally agree with this qoute:-
“- Please remember that patch notes are never as good as playing the actual patch. Please reserve your judgement until you play the patch.”

    regs,

    irogue

  16. Savy Says:

AWM time action again 45 seconds? pfff rofl .Storms removed from the Urban Assault Team, and Urban Assault Support 600?if Storms removed
make it 300 mp and upgraids 60 ammo.I think 1.6 be nice but it terrible.

  17. Savy Says:

but i dont play in this patch maybe it be very good.sry me if i is not right.

  18. Quercus Says:

It all sounds very good and should make games a lot less frustrating. Only comment I would make is that the Battletest made some nice changes with the Terror Tree and it is a shame these don’t appear to have been implemented.

  19. BulaMatari Says:

at first glance looks like great job overall, relic thx 4 posting this buggo

most important to me seems that quad and croc total ownage is finally dealt with, and Airborne has at last got that well deserved nerf…

only one thing i’m really sad about: no buff to rangers (will bazookas ever kill anything?? i know they’re free, but to increase usefullness, maybe make an upgrade available that fires higher powered rockets?,

infantry company in general still needs changes, while obviously it was already the least viable company….

oh, and screw arranged teams, i hate 2v2s :)

still i cant’ wait to get crack ‘a ‘ lackin’ on the patch :)

  20. Rotz Says:

“where’s the decrease in price of mp 44’s to 50 munitions.”
    Thats a very good point

    I also wonder:
Why does an normal Tiger cost 900MP now???
1000MP-400MPAssaulttroops = 600MP or at least 650MP for an Tiger

    —>Tiger increased by 300MP from 600to 900MP
    —>Stug increased by 300MP from 300to 600MP

  21. Patrik Says:

nice another patch, but i was hoping for more changes to make some units/trees more useful.
imo with this patch relic has proven again that its worth to buy relic games, overall great support.
its almost like one patch for every month :D .

  22. -[HC]-TrippleB Says:

    Lobby ping fix!!!! Thank you!!!!

Excited to play these out and discover the undocumented changes!

3 New Maps, and 3 changed maps! Wow its a new game indeed. The wire changes are going to revolutionize 2v2s in the early game…which on maps like lorraine and rails and metal is a very very welcome change!

  23. CommanderKickass Says:

I have some reservations with what has been announced, some areas (from these release notes) haven’t been touched at all. The viability of infantry in 1 v 1 is still something that needs to be looked closely at. The early wire cutters has made wires defunct (a better idea being that u could only build in sectors u control). I will however go into this patch with a clear mind and hope for a brighter COH future.

  25. Jakc Says:

    a ha very good patch

I hope it can been released as quickly as possible

  26. Mathias Says:

Thanks for all the work from Relic, I love the game and all the patches!!!
I just can’t wait to the new Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts will come.
So thanks to all the Relic guys!!! :)

  27. Mathias Says:

I hope the new maps are very funny and good!

  28. Barton Says:

No buff to Terror at all, by far the worst tree of all. I would have liked to see some major changes to that.

Nice to see some of the more powerful Allied units got looked at. AT guns, Halftracks, M-10.

    Can’t wait to play it.

  29. Deadbolt Says:

i was really looking for to arranged 2v2s being implemented, guess it isn’t going to happen from these notes, real shame - i prefer 2v2s and the system to get with your mates is quite tedious. :(

  30. Deadbolt Says:

Sorry to double post but 3v3 maps - PLEASE GET RID OF THEM

  31. ZERO Says:

The weak gets weaker and the strong gets stronger!! why do the axis need all these enhancments!!????

  32. murdog Says:

I agree with Barton: nice to see the Croc, AT, and M10 dealt with. The Croc was just silly. Good to see some map rebalancing.

To those who were hoping for a Terror buff: you got one, indirectly. If the Blitz Tigers don’t come with the free stormtroopers anymore the Tiger Ace looks even better now.

The bottom line is Axis got fixed. Many, many units will now be far more reliable. Thanks for the commitment. I love the 3v3 maps.

  33. roflmao Says:

when they say X thing damaged nerfed. It really does not mean much. Thanks alot buggo, we really cannot know if axis were fixed just by looking at the changelog. Tomoz we will though.

  34. Relicnews | CoH: Patch 1.6 - Shortly Says:

[…] Update: 1.6 Release Notes here. WOO TIGER ACE MODEL BUG FIXED. :-P […]

  35. BattlePigeon Says:

OK…I noticed that all the ones playing acis are celebrating …and they are the only ones. As if Tigers were not cheap enough, now the price has been decreased, and all I noticed that this patch is nothing more then buffs for the axis. Is it that the people at relic truly wanted the axis to win the war, or did the already stacked games of a 4v4 possibly turning into an 8 Tiger match not really suit it for you guys? Nope, just make the Axis even stronger they said. Why? I mean…why make all Axis stronger, it’s not like tey were weak before. I understand Allies get Fire Up and Axis gets Cloak, but seriously, cloak is more useful. But thanks for fixing the full speed cloak thing. That glitch was totally uncool.

  36. Noir Says:

“As if Tigers were not cheap enough, now the price has been decreased”

    *facepalm*

    Ok, math time:

Pre 1.6 Tiger call in ability = 1000 MP
    Pre 1.6 Stormtroopers = 400 MP

    1000-400 = 600 MP

    Tiger = 600 MP

1.6 Tiger call in = 900 MP, no storms

    900 > 600.

Unless you didn’t use stormies, then you’re just dumb.

  37. soul Says:

Thanks for the changes and the updates relic and buggo.

  38. Doegy Says:

“To those who were hoping for a Terror buff: you got one, indirectly. If the Blitz Tigers don’t come with the free stormtroopers anymore the Tiger Ace looks even better now.”

Are you trying to be funny?
Cuz it really work, like one of those Jerry seinfield joke….

Bottom line is we should appreciate relic’s effort, thanks dev guys! But I feel that to balance the game, there is still long way to go. For example there is no balancing on:
    AWM,
    airborne-strafing run, free supply drop

but there is nerf on axis:
    urban and armor assault team.

Think I just have to play the game to see.

  39. daytradingusa Says:

When is the DirectX 10 patch coming out?

  40. CaptainSolvite Says:

I wouldn’t know if its any good, as have just downloaded it and (surprise, surprise) I cannot apply more than one patch EVER.

Version 1.0 to whatever works fine, but have not been able to patch on top of an existing update yet. As there is no English 1.0 - 1.6 patch, I guess I will never play this online. Is it worth me buying Opposing Fronts? Beginning to think not and this bothers me as it is such an excellent game.

Can you help Buggo? Any suggestions?

(I have all the DoW games & they update fine - does anyone know whats going on? I’m gutted and most forums I’ve seen don’t offer any relevant solutions)

  41. UberJumper Says:

    CaptainSolvite:

    http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=133139

    Start there.

  42. CaptainSolvite Says:

Thanks UberJumper. Have seen your post before, but just stumbled upon something much more simple than that…

    1. Right-clicked on RelicCOH.exe in the installation directory to see file version (1.4.0.10426); after applying 1.0 - 1.4 update

    2. Used regedit to view “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Company of Heroes” where I found the version to be still as 1.0.0.99

    3. This got me thinking… Is it always seeing game as initial install? I couldn’t amend the value, so right clicked the edit tab (in regedit drop down menu) and changed permissions to full control (for that key only). Guess you have to be an administrator account to do this; why this value was blocked - I do not know; most others aren’t.

    4. Amended version value to 1.4.0.10426, and lo and behold, the 1.4 - 1.6 update installed fine, (and updated registry version to suit). Am online setting up profile now.

Hope this helps other users too. I’ve seen a few similar patching complaints.

Yippee. “Opposing Fronts” back on the shopping list :)

  43. Bayonet Says:

Freakin’ sweet. Relic kickin’ it, as always.

  44. John Says:

So I got 1.6 and it says it cannot find the game! So it ays the game needs to be installed again! Thanks a lot!

  45. Adrian Says:

Great. Installed 1.6 and it destroyed the game. Loads up multiplayer then crashes before getting to the game screen. Reinstalled video drivers. No dice. Reinstalled CoH and guess what? When I install 1.0 to 1.4 patch the game no longer even STARTS - just crashes. Great work guys. Bravo. Encore. Now you want me to pay $2.48 a minute to get this mess fixed. Way to waste my Sunday night.

  46. Adrian Says:

CaptainSolvite: There isn’t even a THQ folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\. What a joke.

  47. CaptainSolvite Says:

Adrian: On my PC (running XP SP2) the above information is correct, and I have double checked to confirm so. I realise this isn’t a forum for technical support, but I was responding to UberJumper’s post.

I know from several forums that people have been having difficulty in applying patches (and therefore playing online) and basically was trying to help.

I was frustrated and disappointed, but now have an online profile and am enjoying the update as intended (albeit I am a newbie). Make of that what you will.

  48. Hobo76 Says:

I had always hoped that very good anti infantry units, (flame tanks, snipers, flak tanks, and any other heavy machine gun team would be able to kill the crew of some of the lesser armored vehicles like jeeps and motorcycles even the gunners for the axis flak tank and armor car turrets which have no roofs, or any other vehicle which has no roof. I know that would take a lot of work to change, but I think it would be rather cool to loot an enemy motorcycle or axis flak tank, Ive always wanted to loot an enemy flak tank.

  49. Stern Says:

Hey, Solvite, if you’re still checking this, (or anyone else), could you tell me what the value containing the install path is in “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ\Company of Heroes”
I’m having the problem that it can’t find the game, I’m afraid it may have been because I moved the folder, and now I need to modify the install path.

Also any other important registry values like version I’d need in there? Thanks.

  50. Khalifson Says:

Does anybody know how to install the patch onto the game?

  51. ógeð Says:

    NERF TIGER ACE!

  52. Travis Says:

Will Comapany of Heroes ever get VoIP? It is still a bit time-cosuming to talk to allies with the current chat system; VoIP might be nice.

  53. Travis Says:

Khalifson, to install the patch (if you already have it), just double click it.
