Vista™ users:
- You should run the installer “As Administrator”. Some configurations will fail the install if you do not do this.
- The BETA installer will take a long time to start on Vista (possibly several minutes). This is due to security checks that it performs on the installer executable.
- For more advanced users who are having install issues, please run the install executable from an administrative command prompt. (see instructions below)
P.S. also:
Some UI features have been disabled, but the on-screen buttons have not. These will either be removed or implemented over the course of the BETA in accordance with items we will want to test.

How to install the executable from an administrative command prompt (thanks clemedia):

for the location of the shortcut type in cmd.exe
name it whatever you want it doesn’t matter
right click on that new shortcut and choose “run as administrator”
in the command prompt navigate to the directory you have the installer in…….if you have it on the desktop you would get there by typing in:
cd\Users\[your windows username here]\Desktop
then type in the name of the installer:
COH_OF_Beta_Setup.exe
and press enter…….bingo,done.”

I sincerely hope that Relic takes into account what an unpleasant experience it is for their customers to use fileplanet. I’m sure there are good business reasons to use their services but quite frankly…they suck. Everyone knows they suck, but yet people still use them for whatever reason.
100 kb/s download speeds right now and they SWEAR that they don’t cap their bandwidth. Right. Pathetic.

Please guys who don’t have a key stop acting stupid, Buggo has had enough trouble today, clearly the contest says the keys will be sent when she has time to go through all the emails so in the meantime stop spamming, nobody will give you a key and I doubt posting here will make a difference in when are you gonna receive your key (or if you gonna get one)

Fileplanet suckz hard.
I tryin to download with only 40 kb/s with the possebility to receive 2000kb/s with my connection. but only 10 hours left ;-((((
how could a single site be so slow? every n00b with a server could give downloadrates of atleast 250kb/s.
thought the times of waiting hours for a single download are over since 2-3 years.

I can’t hear any sounds ingame except for voices and music. Sometimes I will hear ONE gunshot but very very rarely. I tried all the same settings on vCoH and my sound worked perfect.
I just want sound :/

I have the same problem here! Every time i try to install there is a CRC Error. I tried to download it again but the error still occurs.
My first gess was, that this happens due to my overclocked system. So i downclocked it to default settings, but this doesn’t help. There must be a corrpution with the file provided by fileplanet. Is that possible??

If you get an unzipping CRC error, make sure the installer is running from the drive you’re installing it from.

IE: If you’re installing to a second hard drive (Say E:) make sure the installer is on E: as well.

I can’t seem to install the beta I’ve tried the normal way, as administrator(my windows account is also an administrator) and i’ve tried the cmd.exe way but everytime it doesn’t work.

Awww, none of the above work for me, I dont got any users and im working off an Asus G1S laptop. I ran it both in adminstrator mode and made the desktop shortcut for the cmd.exe…

Well, I could not install in Vista. Tried in XP, same thing, CRC error. Then tried for the heck of it on my Dell Inspiron laptop running Xp. installed the first time. I have no idea what the hell is going on here. I am an advanced user as well. Very unhappy right now.

Arggggggg, am I typing the paths wrong in cmd.exe?? None of the install solutions around here are working for me. Granted I have a higher than average technical ability, I feel like a newb.

Bad beta …. 3 patches already and I got my invitation yesterday.
Downloaded the mainfile nice and easy yesterday … but when trying to download the firt patch today I have to get in line in the public download … didnt need that for the mailfile … nice way to scare away beta-testers.

Figured out I was pathing wrong in cmd.exe, so I discovered that wasn’t the issue. Any sort of attempt with administrator gives “Access Denied” still, and any attempt without administrator gives install up to 83% when it gets to OFSpeechEnglish.sga. Suspect I’m missing a file? I’m attempting to download the torrented beta file yet it’s terribly slow with few seeders.
What’s up with Relic not having any dedicated servers to seed?

After every bit of installation issue and solution possible and even coming up with a few of my own I couldn’t get the install to work because it would stop at 83% while installing or when installing in admin mode give me access denied.
Well the problem was my installation file in the first place was flawed (fricken Fileplanet) and it finally worked after downloading the Torrent. No fancy gimmicks necessary, just click and install.
If you need a torrent client, use www.uTorrent.com (1.7.2)
Thanks you brave few seeders still out there. I’m continuing to seed for as long as possible without inflicting on gameplay.

Just some criticism but I tried both fileplanet and the torrents of the client\patches for the beta and the torrent downloaded fully giving me no installer issues where the fileplanet version just came up with various issues and stuff. Fileplanet needs to pick their game up if they can’t even get a simple server to host and upload all the files to your PC. Still at least I can still play the beta with the key I got from Fileplanet in the first place but makes me wonder what service fileplanet is trying to provide cause their upload of the installer keeps giving various errors.
