Attention Modders! And people who like mods!
Hi everyone, I’m working on putting together a really cool even (involving limited edition Relic t-shirts). I’m going to be running “Mod Days”, where everyone gets online to try out a new mod. Both the modders and people playing the mod that day will have a chance to win the t-shirts. I won’t post up what the t-shirts look like yet but I have them in my hands and they are awesome!
So, if you’re interested in getting your mod some playtime during these “Relic Game Mod Days”, please post the name of the mod, your role on the mod team, and a link to your mod in the comments of this blog post.
I’ll set something up soon!
YAY!
P.S. Any Relic game will work…. CoH, DoW, Homeworld, etc etc…

Do custom maps count as mods as well? There are some fantastic custom maps out there (like D-Day coop) that would make fantastic entries.
September 12th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Right now it is just for mods, but custom maps is something I am planning for the future
September 12th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
How “complete” does the mod have to be? Are beta versions acceptable?
September 12th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
Sure, beta versions are fine as long as it is playable!
September 13th, 2007 at 12:39 am
Sounds great!

Great initiative Buggo.
I’m the team leader of the Dawn of War Professional: Dark Crusade Edition aka DCpro/DoWpro
The mod is a gameplay redesign incorporating all 7 races and features unique competitive style gameplay for great 1v1 and team games. It also features a modified version of the Dawn of Skirmish modification for excellent AI and skirmish. Improved artwork and visual Fx’s, excellent balance and gameplay, added competitive quality maps and plenty more. DCpro is a complete mod package that no serious DC’er should miss.
It is different to DC and the learning curve can initially be daunting but never fear - its easy to get help when you want tips whilst learning!
There are many replays available already at www.dowsanctuary.com. Players can be frequently found in Eye of Terror (EoT) or on DCpro’s IRC channel on quakenet (irc.quakenet.org #dowpro). Alternatively log on to IRC here - http://88.198.39.149/~dowpro/index.php?option=com_mospjirc&Itemid=39
The latest release download 2.03 can be found here - http://88.198.39.149/~dowpro/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=92&topic=7535.msg16729#new

This is such a great idea! I really wish we would see things like this from more companies would do such things. EA in particular should do things like this for BF2 as they have a very big modding community that puts out some fantastic work with lots of dedication, but nothing they don’t really push the mods, which is keeping their game alive… though I’m sure they don’t like long life from their games… how else will they keep making sells…
September 13th, 2007 at 9:16 am
DoWPRO without a shadow of a doubt, it impressed us enough to feature it on our site with a couple of interviews from the team and some continued support!

Many thanks to Relic for giving our work a chance to be better known.
I’d like to propose the Inquisition : Daemonhunt mod, of which I’m the mod leader.
It is a mod for Dawn of War Dark Crusade 1.2 that adds a new playable race : the Daemonhunters.
All details can be found here :
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=152821
The mod itself can be downloaded from here :
http://files.filefront.com/inquisit…;/fileinfo.html
I hope it will seem of enough interest to you to be selected.
Many thanks again for your offer !
September 13th, 2007 at 9:26 am
Sorry for the bad link.
You can download the mod directly from here :

Ok, we at the Horus Heresy Multiplayer Mod would like to join in. Seeing as you’ve said beta is allright, we’d like to see if our mod qualifies as one (even though we wouldn’t call it a beta internally, as there’s a lot of features not present yet… we’re an ambitious mod).
* 2 playable factions: Ultramarines & Sons of Horus (out of a planned 18 factions… yes, 18).
* Fully featured tech tree for both factions.
* Both factions will have a higher number of units to choose from than the vanilla Dawn of War factions.
* No Relic placeholder models (all custom built).
* No pink models (all will have textures).
* Concepts that differs from normal Dawn of War play.
So, even without this being considerable as a beta, it should be more than enough new content to be comparable to one in my eyes. We hope this is deemed complete enough to enter this event.
With Kind Regards
Kresjah
Team leader of HHMP.

Cool, can’t wait to see what mods will be showcased. Go DoW modders! GO!
September 14th, 2007 at 5:06 am
Oh, can you comment anything on approximately when this event will take place (it’s understandable if you don’t have a final date set, we just could use something as an outline for setting up our work plan).
September 14th, 2007 at 6:45 am
Id like to see any homeworld mods…. Esp gothic battle field mod, dunno if its finished anywasys. God help me to stay consious.

Hey All,
Harumph…overlooked again…sheesh…:)
The Blood Angels Mod is near completion, with many new models, animations and (Steveocarty’s) art content from talented contributors and (Shingouki’s) excellent code work…a real treat
We will need some further dates & details, for example…will this be a public free for all? We are that close to finished, a public release now would not do the final polished version justice…
Any further details will be gratefully recieved, and allow us all to get together to discuss inclusion…
Cheers,
Delta7 : Blood Angels Mod Team Leader & Modeller (Shingouki’s bitch!)

September 17th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Howdi Buggo,
I would like to enter.
I am proud of the fact that the “LoranKorn Sound Mod” is one of the most known and used mods of Company of Heroes. It is in fact the very first sound mods and one of the two sound mods ever made. The download count is at 1700 and the topic
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=135454
has been visited by 8680 people so far. I am very happy and pleased indeed that I could, in my limited ways, contribute to the community.
September 18th, 2007 at 3:48 am
I’d like to reccomend the Harlequins alpha build. Of course, if Shin would like to pull another stunt here as well, it might not be an alpha…
I’m not at all involved in it personally, but its awesome and really different.
Also, great idea Buggo!
September 18th, 2007 at 7:53 am
when will this start because my armoured company mod is currently in alpha stage?
September 18th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I’ll probably enter TTRU for another day. It isn’t released yet & still needs one final unit to be animated before I consider releasing it. AI also needs updating for some of the new content & I need to try & get a loading screen up.
Being ill didn’t help either, but it ain’t far off being ready.
Either that, or I can just prepare a beta for those 2 weeks & have it out, though I don’t really wanna do that.
September 18th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
DowXP. Gets my vote even over DowPRO.
September 18th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
DoW:XP. Now at 4.02, the completed mod with the most views (343,000+) and comments (nearly 6,000). That’s for a reason.
Who else can claim to have the mother of all FXs, the Tau Manta Strike from Hades!!! mwuhahahahaha. Really though, XP is all about balance and codex adherence. We have a sophisticated team of dedicated developers literally working 24/7 rolling out new content, artwork, and better gameplay. Also we will be incorporating Imperial Daemon Hunters into the mod with the next release. So, XP gets my vote. I’m one of the beta testers/artists. I’ve been working with XP for around half a year and I love it.

September 18th, 2007 at 4:03 pm
I would recommend DCPRO for its endless work by a whole crew to improve Relic’s balance
AND
Inquisition mod for its cool models and atmosphere.
For the record, I have nothing to do with these 2 outstanding products other than the fact that I play them a lot. Oh and I dont play DC.
So every day is mod day.
Timo
XOXO
September 18th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
I recommend DowXP to everyone. I’ve played this is my main Dawn of War experience since I found it 1 yr ago. All other mods that I try must be compatible with DowXP else I just leave it alone. It has many extra units/abilities/effects with added mini-mods that all come together to give you a mind-blowing new Dawn of War game.
I give it 2 thumbs up!
September 18th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
I’m not entirely sure what this is about(are relic staff coming online to play our mods?) but I guess I’ll post anyways.
We just released a new version of Creature Chaos for Impossible Creatures. I doubt it stands up to some of the community mods in other games, but anyone who gets the 1.1 patch to work plays CC
.
Download is here: http://altar.baboviolent.net/Creature%20Chaos%204.2.exe
Oh and my primary role in Creature Chaos is I do the scripting and make the final design/balance decisions. Lucky for me, what’s left of the community loves horrible balance after putting up with ii for so many years
.
September 18th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
DoW:XP has been my favorite mod so far, combining a solid balance with gobs of great new codex satisfying units. In addition, the creators and maintainers of the mod are friendly and always open to suggestions.
However, I do enjoy reading about and sampling the creative works of other DoW modders.
September 18th, 2007 at 11:07 pm
I’d recommend DoW:XP to anyone playing Dawn of War Dark Crusade. It’s my favourite mod. And I played several of them to some extend…
Cheers
September 19th, 2007 at 9:02 am
Dawn of War: Expanded (aka DoWXP)–it’s the longest-running completed DC mod in the community.
If you don’t believe me, compare the sheer number of posts in our RN thread to that of any other completed mod for DC. Over 344,000! The only other one that even comes CLOSE is the witch hunters’ mod (299,000) and the Firestorm mod (240,000–I would have voted for that one, but it’s not in public beta just yet). We are an active group, and have been since January!
And currently, we’ve got integration with Inquisition: Daemonhunt running (still working on balancing).
I’m vol_907, one of the mod’s old-timers, and I’ve done texturing (having added a SCAR-driven IG camochange add-on for XP campaign, and some texture fixes here and there), coding, and a ton of testing.
September 19th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Does DowXP have forums of their own or do they just focus on that single RN thread?
September 19th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
We have our own forums, but they are not really used much anymore. Riker likes to keep everything in one place.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:44 am
I played dowpro, but it just feeled weird. I’d rather play dowxp.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:52 am
Since I’m the original creator of DowXP, I’ll vote for this mod.
Also, next release will be a big one, since it’ll features the adapted version of the Daemon Hunter Mod.
By the way, who will be the 6000th poster in our thread?
September 21st, 2007 at 4:21 pm
Mod Name: Night Shift
Mod Version: 1.0.0
Compatibility: WA 1.41
Download Link: http://dawnofwar.filefront.com/file/Night_Shift;62075
Install Guide: http://forums.relicnews.com/showpost.php?p=1644453&postcount=145
Issues:
The mod only supports WA 1.41, in order to install it, you need to edit the registry, change the game version to 1.41, then change it back after the mod is installed. I understand that this is inconvenient, if this is too much, then let’s not complicate things and I’ll wait for the next time Mod Days are announced. By then Night Shift’s DC version will be ready. Otherwise you need to follow the guide and edit the registry via the link above.

Might as well throw my towel in:
I’m the owner/creator of Point Defense Systems, the original naval-warfare inspired total conversion for Homeworld 2. Lots of people will say that project management wise, it’s the most infamous as well
But where you want an exceptional presentation of real-world military concepts translated to contemporary SF space combat coupled to Hollywood flair, PDS is the place to go.
We would like to showcase two mods within the same project, Version 7.3.2. compiled by SunTzu as the penultimate evolution of the HW2-gameplay-based PDS Classic mod, and the more amibitious “Harpoon in Space” version currently classified “Version 11 Beta 8″.
Website is at www.pds.hwaccess.net

And that’s all right now. I know its a mess of text, but in all self-justification, messiness in PDS is fun

Looks like I am gonna have to pull the Homeworld 2 Battlestar Galactica Fleet Commander mod. I travel a lot and when on the road (like I will be the week of Mod Day) I only have access to OS X (which won’t multiplayer with Windows).
I’m hoping you will have more mod days in the future!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
My mod is Combat Revolution, the latest version is 3.33 (patch underway)
It has many changes (4000+), stacks of fun.
Im the mod team leader, and sole coder, but have 2 others that assist with ideas and balancing

Hi !
I want to post up KMOD: Nations at War
We are extremely popular mod in CoH Community, have over 30.000 downloads and still growing. We are a team of 11 people that work hard to make KMOD CoH`s best mod out here.
So i would be pleased to have KMOD on that list Buggo

My - admittedly biased - vote goes to DoW XP. It’s the one mod that has kept me playing Dawn of War more than any other so far. Others have already posted enough info about the mod, so I’ll leave it at that.
